What Customers Say About Philips MCD703 DVD Micro Shelf System:

But overall, I've never seen anything that can compare with the looks and sound, especially for the price. I must admit that the brief stops in DVDs are a bit of a nuisance (and the reason I only gave it 4 stars), but mine are so brief that I'd need to be even more of a perfectionist to be truly bothered.

I was happy to finally find somewhere that I could purchase a second one. This unit is different in being European, so the standard setup/operations we're accustomed to from all our Japanese equipment don't apply, so it takes some time to get everything working to it's maximum potential.

I see so many negatives in these reviews that I am stunned. I also have decent surround sound and a pair of old Bose 901s, so the other stuff in the house is not junk (there's also my car).

As I've used mine for the past 18 months, it has become the go-to system in the house, because (compression or not) it just sounds great and really kicks with that sub-woofer. Plus, there are so many adjustments available to make the music sound its best.

On discs burned in the computer, the hangs can be a bit worse, also. And, it takes care of two functions (CD and DVD) to top it all off.

micro system with superb sound qualities. Had a problem with the cd/dvd (center guide was broke ) right out of the box, but, Sam (samsexpo) went out of his way to satisfy us as customers. would buy again

After having the unit for a few months, the Video Output stopped working, limiting the DVD player to only playing CDs. This unit has amazing quality sound. Out of all the units I have purchased, it has probably the clearest sound; helped in a large part by the Ribbon Tweeters. Not worth shipping to manufacturer for replacement, but I will keep it for playing CDs. Buy another product if you have the money.

We are. Hook your iPod up and you can listen to your (muffled) music library, but you would be served better by a much smaller iPod dock for that.

Great. We have a very pretty and compact paperweight in the bedroom, now.

Pretty and compact. The sub-woofer is useless.

After less than a year, must open and close the disc player several times to get it to recognize a dvd, if it will at all. The always-on blue light is so bright that we drape fabric or paper over it to be able to sleep.

Just keep looking. again.

Almost all my electronics are Philips but I didn't buy this model MCD703/37. I went for the MCD908/37. Of course, it 3X more expensive. Nonetheless, if this is your first shelf system or money is an issue, this is a great system for the price ($130 or less-tax, s&h included).
